Apenkwa artificial turf to be completed in April

The Apenkwa Community Park artificial turf project is on course to be completed in April after contractors finished levelling and fencing of the field last month.

According to Chief Operating Officer of BLAG Ghana Limited, contractors of the project, Mr Eddie Dankwa, the 11-a-side artificial turf, which is being sponsored by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation, would witness the laying of the grass this month.

On-time completion

Mr Dankwa was optimistic his outfit would complete the project on time in order to allow the Okaikoi Central constituents access the venue for football activities as well as social gatherings.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic during a visit to the venue last Saturday, he revealed that the artificial grass for the park was expected to arrive in the country before the month ends.

“As you can see, everything is in order and we are on course to deliver the project in April.

“The field has been levelled and the fence completed so what we have left is the laying of the grass which is expected to arrive before the month ends,” Mr Dankwa said.

GNPC projects

The Apenkwa Community Park artificial turf project forms part of the numerous football fields being given facelift by the GNPC Foundation across the country.

The state-of-the-art facility remains a vision of the Member of Parliament for the Okaikoi Central Constituency, Mr Patrick Yaw Boamah, and the Executive Director of GNPC Foundation, Mr Dominic Kwesi Eduah.
