Armwrestling: African Championships get $45k cushion from Adonko Next Level
The 15th Africa Armwrestling Championships which pulls of at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra on Friday, May 1, received a significant support of $45,000 (forty-five thousand US Dollars) from Adonko Next Level Energy drink who become official headline sponsor of the continental event.
Aside the cash, the Next Level Energy Group will also provide over 200 cartons of products to refresh athletes, officials and fans during the two-day tournament which ends on Saturday.
At a short ceremony at the Central Hotel in Accra on Wednesday, to announce the deal, Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) and Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA) President Charles Osei Berko commended Adonko Next Level for their confidence in the sport, and willigness to extend the support to both AFA and the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF).
“This is unprecedented, I only got the call last night around 1am and here we are to announce this huge package from our newest partner,,” Osei Asibey said.
“We are very grateful and we assure them of giving them the needed mileage to do even more as they have promised. We are moving to the next level with Next Level Energy Drink,” he added.
Over 350 pullers representing 21 national teams from across the continent including Egypt, Botswana and Niger have started arriving in the country for the continental showpiece which has at stake. African supremacy, ranking points and qualification to the Cairo 2027 African Games in Egypt.
Representatives of the new headline sponsors present at the ceremony included British-born Ghanaian Daniel Azure who is Senior Vice-President, Global Marketing of Next Level Energy Group, Philip Grosse (Group CEO) and Frank Boekler (Group CFO).
Also available was GAF Vice-President and 2026 African Armwrestling Championships Local Organising Committe (LOC) Vice- Chairman Dr Kofi Addo-Agyekum and other LOC members as well as GAF, AFA and WAF executives.
