Avram Grant lauds Premier League
Black Stars Coach Avram Grant has described the first round of Ghana’s Premier League as one of the most competitive leagues on the African continent.
Speaking to Graphic Sports in an interview last Sunday, he commended the league’s organisers for making the season an exciting one, saying although the top fight competition delayed, it has lived up to its expectations as it has induced spectators to troop to the various league venues week after week to be part of the euphoria.
Describing the Liberty-Ebusua Dwarfs game at the Carl Reindorf Park at Dansoman last Sunday as one of the most exciting matches, he lauded the technical directors and players of both teams for playing with a lot of passion.
“The match was exciting, the two teams worked hard, they played with passion and I liked it. This is a good game and I think that the organisers did very well,” he noted.
However, he added that no specific player caught his attention to merit a call- up to any of the national teams, but he assured that he, together with other technical handlers, would continue to observe the players in the second season to facilitate recruitment into the national team.
“I don’t think any specific player caught my attention today, but we will continue monitoring them in the next season to see the way forward,” he assured.
The game, which was almost marred by continuous showers, saw Dwarfs give the ‘Scientific Soccer’ lads a run for their money in their own backyard.
