Baffour-Awuah: Former Labour Minister granted bail in alleged 'murder of Kotoko fan' case
The Sunyani District Court has granted bail to the former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, and Joseph Kyeremeh, who were arrested in connection with the death of a Kotoko supporter during a Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC at Nsoatre in the Bono Region on Sunday.
However, Agyemang Duah Owusu, one of the accused persons, who is a police officer, was denied bail and was remanded into police custody.
The court was presided over by Eric Daning.
Baffour-Awuah and Kyeremeh were charged with abetment to commit a crime, to wit murder, while Owusu was charged with murder.
The two accused persons were each granted GH₵500,000 bail with three sureties.
Orders
The accused persons have been ordered to report themselves to the police station, crime officer or investigator everyday for the first 14 days.
They were also ordered to submit their passports to the registry of the court until further direction.
The order to submit their passports is 14 days from today (Tuesday, February 4, 2025).
Additionally, the court asked the accused persons to seek leave of the court before travelling outside the Sunyani Municipality.
The three accused persons are to re-appear in court on Monday, February 17, 2025, for the continuation of the case.
The disturbances that erupted on Sunday, February 2, 2025, resulted in the death of a Kotoko, fan Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley.
