Barcelona negotiates fresh terms with Lamine Yamal's agent despite pact over extension until 2030

Lamine Yamal is the name on everybody’s lips in Spain after the Barcelona wonderkid helped the national team beat France and progress to the finals of the UEFA Euro 2024.

The 16-year-old scored a sensational goal from distance at a time when France were ahead in the game, helping La Roja claw their way back into the contest.

With three assists already to his name at the competition, Yamal has seen his stock, which had already seen a meteoric rise during the past year, go through the roof over the past month.

Barcelona tied Lamine Yamal down to a new contract last year, with the teenage prodigy inking a three-year deal until 2026 – the maximum possible for an underage player.

However, the Catalans managed to secure a pact with Yamal and his agent, Jorge Mendes, to extend his contract until 2030 once he turns 18 years old.

But considering how rapidly Yamal is growing, SPORT now reports that Barcelona are not ruling out the possibility of offering the prodigious talent fresh, improved terms on his deal.

Both Barça and Yamal were clear last summer that they were not going to part ways. The youth academy graduate is very much at home at the club and the Blaugrana see him as their franchise player for the future.

For that reason, the Catalans and Mendes reached a long-term agreement in which the planning of his career was already outlined.

Now, what is not ruled out is that this second contract until 2030 could be revised before it comes into force as the agreed sum could fall short.

Barça already foresaw a favourable evolution of Yamal in the coming years, but his worldwide impact is of such magnitude that the club would consider improving this extension to make him happy and make it clear that he will be the absolute reference point of the club.

PSG have already knocked on Mendes and Barcelona’s doors to explore a deal for Yamal. But the Catalan giants are not concerned and believe that they have everything under control as far as the academy jewel’s future is concerned.
