Bekoe, Latif out as Chelsea return to Africa this year
Former goal king Eric Bekoe and youngster Latif Mohammed have been left in the cold as Berekum Chelsea embark on their second continental campaign this year.
Chelsea, who showed great promise in their maiden appearance at the prestigous Africa Champions League, qualifying for the money zone, have named their final squad for the 2014 CAF Champions League campaign without the two most experienced players.
Bekoe, who had been nursing an injury before this year’s Premier League kick started, is said to have recovered and expected to begin full scale training before the second round of the season.
While Salifu, who is nursing a cruciate ligament injury needs at least eight months to recover.
Berekum Chelsea face Atlabara FC of South Sudan in the first duel of the preliminary round of this year’s Champions League.
Chelsea will host the South Sudanese champions at the Golden City Park on February 9 with the return leg scheduled for March 14 at the Stade Al-Amal Atbara in South Sudan.
