Big boost for Hearts, Kotoko players
Players of Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko will no longer have to worry about delays in their remuneration after the two clubs signed a 12-month sponsorship deal with Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) last Friday.
The MD of GOIL, Patrick Akorli, at the official signing in Accra, disclosed that the indigenous oil marketing company will pay GH¢40,000 every month to each club to be used "solely for player welfare" in exchange for the rights as their Official Fuel/Energy Sponsors.
In total GOIL is expected to pay a total of GH¢960,000 {GH¢480,000 per club} for the duration of the contract, which also required the clubs to submit signed acknowledgement of receipt of salaries and allowances from players before GOIL releases the next tranche of payment.
GOIL, as part of the monthly package, will also give both Hearts and Kotoko a monthly fuel allocation for their official vehicles.
In return, the clubs are expected to display pitch panels of their latest sponsor during their games and training sessions as well as logos on the back of their official jerseys.
After signing of the deal, the delighted top hierarchy of both clubs were for once ahead of their crucial encounter today agreed on a subject with the Chairman of Hearts’ Strategic Management Committee, Vincent Sowah Odotei and General Manager of Kotoko, Samuel Opoku Nti leading the praises of GOIL.
