"The is an initiative to unearth and development new promising talents for the boxing fraternity and also to provide an avenue for competitive bouts among boxers in order to develop the necessary and required skills they will need for them to excel in the profession," he said.
Present at the event was the president of the Amateur Boxing Authority (GABA), Mr George Lamptey, who recollected the history of some great
Ghanaian boxers, including Ghana's only representative of Hall of Fame, the legendary Azumah Nelson; Ike Quartey and Alfred Kotey who all started their career as juveniles and rose through the ranks to become world-acclaimed boxers.
He lauded the initiative and appealed for government support in order to make it "a come to stay programme" since boxing was one of the major sports which had raised the flag of the nation higher.
The event will be crowned with a mouth-watering heavyweight clash involving undefeated Ebenezer Tetteh and Morris Okolla of Kenya.
