Moses Armah — President of Medeama

Calm returns to Medeama

Calm has been restored to the camp of Medeama Sporting Club after Sunday’s altercation between the club’s two top technical heads during their 2-2 drawn Premier League clash with Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium.

In the heat of the game, the technical director of the club, Evans Adotey, and head coach, Tom Strand, were engaged in a confrontation which left many wondering whether all was well with the club just days to their CAF Confederation Cup .

The incident saw Strand stepping out of the dugout in silent protest only to remain passive for the rest of the game.

But in an interview with the Graphic Sports on Tuesday, the president of Medeama, Moses Armah, assured that there was no cause for alarm.

While confirming that there was a little misunderstanding between Adotey and the Swedish coach over the substitution of some players, Armah said the matter had been resolved and now belonged to history.

Armah, aka Mospacka, explained that the whole issue came about when Adotey resisted a move by Coach Strand to substitute two key players - Malik Akowuah and Kwame Boahene - who were on top of their game at the time.

“Adotey did the right thing because we would have lost the match if those two influential players had been susbstituted,” he noted.

He maintained that the technical director had a supervisory role over the head coach and could, therefore, advise or step in when things went wrong.

Mospacka revealed that the two technical brains had put the incident behind them and were working hand-in-hand towards Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup first-leg game against Al Ittihad Tripoli in Tunis.

Medeama are scheduled to fly out tomorrow to begin their second continental adventure after their impressive debut in 2014.
