From the break, the pep talks from head coach Nana Joe Adarkwa worked magic as the Ghanaian team rallied in the second half and got the equaliser through a brilliant goal by Comfort Yeboah in the 56th minute.

Yeboah, 16, also played an instrumental role in securing the winner after her cross in AS FAR’s box got deflected into the net resulting to an own goal.

In a post-match interview, she said: “I am very happy that we have won the match. The match was not easy at all. It was very tough but we fought and at the end of the day we were successful.”

“The coach giving us instructions helped a lot. Even when we went to the dressing room he told us to come back to prove them wrong in the second half and that helped us a lot,” she said rattling the Twi language.

“I am very happy with this victory. We gave everything to win. I say thank you to my friends (teammates) for this match and for helping me score twice. I am proud of getting this trophy of best player of the match. We are happy but there are still two matches left, we will approach them well,” she added.

For her heroic exploits, Yeboah, who also plays for the senior national women’s team, Black Queens, was adjudged the Woman of the Match.
