Ga Mantse challenges Dorgbetor to pursue world title
THE Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has issued a stirring challenge to the newly crowned IBF Continental Africa featherweight champion, Holy Dorgbetor, urging him to pursue a world title and bring glory to the Ga state and Ghana.
During a courtesy call at the Ga Mantse Palace in Kaneshie, Accra, where Dorgbetor and his management team presented his newly won title, the Ga Mantse underscored the importance of diligent training and heeding the advice of trainers.

Congratulations to you on winning the new title. We are proud of you. We appreciate your decision to present the belt to the Ga Mantse, it shows that you know and respect tradition," a spokesperson for the Ga Mantse remarked.
He encouraged Dorgbetor to prioritise winning the world title in his division and to avoid actions that might hinder his success in the sport.
“We warmly welcome you, we have accepted you and written your name in our books. We give you all our blessings to go out there and be very successful in your career. Well done for bringing this title, but we want you to now go on and bring a world title. You have our full support,” he stated.
Dorgbetor, known in boxing circles as "Jaw Breaker," expressed his gratitude to the Ga Mantse for the warm reception and the words of encouragement and support. He vowed to bring the world title home as soon as possible.
“I feel proud and happy. This is my first time meeting the Ga Mantse, and I’m grateful for the wonderful reception and the words of encouragement and support. I am very grateful,” Dorgbetor said.
He appealed for support from the Ga Mantse and Ghanaians to achieve his goal of winning a world title.
“I am so happy and I feel like doing more. I see it as a duty now to win a world title just for the king. I want to return here again one day with the world title; I want to make him proud,” he stated.
The young Dorgbetor, a former Ghana featherweight champion, clinched the IBF Continental Africa featherweight strap following a seventh-round stoppage victory over Hamadi Furahisha of Tanzania in Accra last month at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
This victory improved the undefeated career record of the native of Mepe in the Volta Region of Ghana to 11 wins and one draw. It is the third career title for the 25-year-old, who previously held the Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) featherweight crown in 2021.
Dorgbetor trains and resides within the Ga community, home to many of Ghana’s boxing world champions on their paths to global triumphs.
Accompanying the new champion were his management team from ACE Power Promotions, led by Head of Corporate Affairs Kizito Akudago and Operations Manager Emmanuel Koranteng.
