Following GN Bank’s recent decision to suspend its sponsorship of the Division One League, the GFA has taken steps to ensure that the bank rescinds its decision and continue to offer their support to the league.

At a meeting held at the FA Secretariat in Accra, GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi informed officials of GN Bank and First Digital TV about the various measures the association had put in place to maintain discipline and deter clubs, officials, supporters, among others, from engaging in violent actions that tend to damage the image of the league.

Mr Nyantakyi further stated that the GFA had temporarily banned some match venues where acts of violence had been perpetuated during Division One League matches and assured the sponsors that the association would take similar actions against venues where such acts were committed.

He also announced that ahead of the start of the second round, the association had taken steps to beef up security at all match venues and anyone found to be inciting or engaging in any act of violence would be arrested and prosecuted.

Consequently, the FA boss added that the association had acquired cameras and trained cameramen who will be detailed to every match venue on match days in order to easily identify perpetuators of acts of violence and intimidation.

After fruitful deliberations, Mr Issah Adam, Managing Director of GN Bank, stated that he would convey the decisions taken by the GFA to the board of the bank to ensure discipline as the two bodies aim at safeguarding the image of the league.
