Ghana grabs 21 medals at Afrcan Armwresting Championship
Ghana’s armwrestling team, Golden Arms, claimed a total of 21 medals to finish second behind hosts Nigeira at the just-ended African Armwrestling Championship in Lagos, Nigeria.
Nigeria claimed the gold trophy as the top team after hauling a total of 46 medals, comprising 19 gold, 16 silver and 11 bronze.
Mali finished in third position with a total of 13 medals (eight gold, four silver and one bronze).
Ghana won four gold, three silver and four bronze from the Right Arm Battles on Day Two at the two-day championship held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
Ghana Armwrestling Federation president, Charles Osei Asibey, was expectedly elated at the team’s maiden international campaign.
"I am elated we made a good impression at our maiden international meeting, thanks to our sponsors, TT Brothers, Original Abe Nsuo and Kofikrom Pharmacy.
“This will enhance development and bring government's attention to the sport of Armwrestling," Mr Osei Asibey told reporters
