Ghana Premier League Review: Hearts go two points clear

Accra Hearts of Oak raced two points clear at the top of the Ghana Premier League with a 1-0 win away at Sekondi Hasaacas. The Phobians capitalised on slips by Wa All Stars and Kumasi Asante Kotoko who lead them heading into match day 19.

 All Stars and Kotoko are currently tied on 32 points after a loss and draw respectively.

Below is the current Ghana Premier League standings and a review of the weekend's action;

Hasaacas 0-1 Hearts : Essipong Sports Stadium

Accra Hearts of Oak won their first game under coach Sergio Traguil with Cosmos Dauda's exquisite back heel giving them all three points against Sekondi Hasaacas.

Dauda's strike in the 59th minute gave the Phobians 34 points and sent them two points clear over their nearest rivals.

Kotoko 0-0 Bechem : Baba Yara Stadium

Kumasi Asante Kotoko's attempt to jump to the summit of the Ghana Premier League was frustrated by a resolute Bechem United defence in a scoreless tie at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors managed to breach the Bechem defence in the 83rd minute but striker Bennett Ofori tapped the ball past an empty net.

Aduana Stars 1-1 New Edubiase United : Nana Agyemang-Badu Park

Aduana Stars remained rooted to fourth place after a 1-1 draw with New Edubiase on Sunday in the Ghana Premier League.

Returnee Nathaniel Asamoah fired Aduana into the lead in the 7th minute but Edubiase midfielder James Boadu's equaliser ensured that they split the points.

Liberty Professionals 0-1 Dreams FC : Carl Reindorf Park

Veteran striker, Eric Gawu's 68th minute strike won all three points for visitors Dreams FC at Liberty Professionals.

The former Hearts of Oak player picked-up a loose ball and went on a mazy run, outsmarting four Liberty players before slotting past goalie, Kwaku David.

Berekum Chelsea 1-0 Ebusua Dwarfs : Golden City Park

Berekum Chelsea moved to ninth place following a narrow 1-0 win over visiting Ebusua Dwarfs at the Golden City Park in Berekum.

Sadick Adams returned to the starting XI for Chelsea but it was his strike partner, Stephen Owusu who got the only goal in the 15th minute.

West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) 2-1 Wa All Stars : WAFA Park, Sogakope

WAFA handed Wa All Stars their fifth loss of the season with a 2-1 home win.

All Stars led the Ghana Premier League heading into the game but they were unable to cope with the artificial playing surface at Sogakope.

Kennedy Boateng and Togolese import Kombla Agbegniadan gave WAFA a two-goal cushion before Matthew Andoh scored a consolation for All Stars.

Ashgold 1-0 Inter Allies : Len Clay Stadium

Ashgold compounded Inter Allies relegation woes with a 1-0 win at Obuasi courtey Emmanuel Osei Baffour's strike. 

Ashgold moved to 10th place following the win while Allies remained in 15th place.
