Ghana set for Zone III Volleyball Championship as organisers signal readiness
Ghana has declared its readiness to host the West Africa Zone III Volleyball Club Championship, with organisers and key stakeholders expressing confidence in the country’s preparations ahead of the March 2026 tournament in Accra.
The President of Kalibi Volleyball Club, Bernard Anbataayela Mornah, said both his club and the Ghana Volleyball Federation were fully prepared for the championship, which is scheduled to run from March 1 to March 8, 2026. He noted that preparations had been stepped up significantly to ensure the event meets international standards and delivers a competitive and well-organised tournament.
According to Mr Mornah, Kalibi Volleyball Club has intensified its technical, tactical and physical preparations, supported by strong administrative systems and a clear focus on athlete welfare. He explained that these measures were aimed at ensuring players are adequately conditioned to compete at a high level throughout the championship.
He also commended the Ghana Volleyball Federation for what he described as strategic leadership and effective collaboration with the Local Organising Committee, saying the partnership was key to delivering a successful competition. He said the federation’s efforts were focused on ensuring efficiency in competition management, logistics, officiating and participant services.
Mr Mornah expressed appreciation to the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Mr Kofi Adams, as well as the Ghana Volleyball Federation, for their support and commitment to the growth of volleyball in the country. He said the backing from the government and the federation had provided the necessary confidence that Ghana would host a championship worthy of its growing reputation in sports organisation.
He assured clubs from across the West African sub-region and beyond of a highly competitive tournament, strong organisation and the warmth of Ghanaian hospitality, which he said would enhance the overall experience for athletes, officials and fans.
Mr Mornah further used the opportunity to invite Corporate Ghana to partner and sponsor the championship, describing the event as a strategic platform for sports development, youth empowerment, talent promotion and national branding at both regional and continental levels.
He pointed out that the championship would coincide with Ghana’s Independence celebrations, giving the tournament added symbolic importance as a moment of national pride and unity, as well as an opportunity to showcase the country’s culture and hospitality to the sub-region.
Mr Mornah concluded by reaffirming Kalibi Volleyball Club’s commitment to working closely with all stakeholders to deliver a successful, well-organised and memorable Zone III Volleyball Club Championship in Accra.
