Ghana’s top CEOs to play table tennis Friday

Over 50 chief executives will on Friday officially launch the 10th edition and fifth anniversary of the CEO & Corporate Ghana Table Tennis Wellness Initiative at a breakfast ceremony in Accra.

Drawn from Ghana’s leading banks, telecommunications, insurance and manufacturing companies, the high-profile event, scheduled for 8:00 a.m., will take off at the ballroom of The Palms by Eagles Hotel.

This will mark the formal roll-out of a nationwide programme that places affordable table tennis tables in corporate offices and promotes regular play as a simple yet effective workplace wellness tool.

Under the initiative, participating companies will install table tennis tables, organise monthly lunchtime sessions and friendly inter-departmental leagues, and field their top executives to compete against rival firms in the biannual CEO & Corporate Ghana Table Tennis Cup.

The inaugural matches of the expanded 2025–2026 season are scheduled for early 2026.

More than 40 companies from Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi have already signed up, with early adopters reporting fully booked tables, improved cross-departmental interaction, reduced afternoon fatigue and a marked drop in workplace stress levels.

Organisers say table tennis offers an intense cardio workout in short bursts, sharpens reflexes, relieves stress within minutes and reintroduces an element of play into the corporate environment.

“This is the tenth edition, and we are proud to celebrate five years of changing Ghana’s corporate culture one paddle at a time,” said Mr Eric Apedo, the programme organiser.

“When CEOs step up to serve the first ball on Friday, they will be sending a clear message: the future of workplace wellness in Ghana is fast, fun and exactly 2.7 metres long.”
