Ghana’s Zinabu Issah advances to women’s shot put final at Paris Paralympic Games

Ghana’s Zinabu Issah has secured a place in the women’s shot put final at the ongoing Paralympic Games in Paris, putting her in contention for a medal.

Issah topped the F57 qualifiers with a personal best throw of 8.67 meters.

She outperformed Neutral Vetokhina E, who finished second, Liberia's Angie Myers in third and Marina Charlotte Houndalowan of Benin, who placed fourth.

The final is scheduled to take place at Stade de France on Thursday at 8:35 am.

Meanwhile, Issah earlier on reached the women’s discus throw final after competing against athletes from Brazil, Russia, Cameroon, the Czech Republic and Gabon, where she finished in the top four to secure her spot in the final.

This impressive throw placed her third overall, behind Russia’s Ekaterina Vetokhina (24.52 meters) and Brazil’s Julyana Cristina da Silva, who topped the qualifiers with a throw of 24.75 meters.

Issah will vie for a medal in the final on Saturday, August 31, at 8:00 am GMT also at the Stade de France.
