GIJ 97 year group donates to school
The 1997 year group of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), “GIJ '97 Supreme” Alumni, has donated 1000 quantities of notepads and dairies to the institute as part of the homecoming activities of the group.

The Minister of Youth and Sports designate, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, who made the donation on behalf of the group, expressed delight in giving back to the premier journalism training institute that helped shaped the lives of members.
The group also promised donating jerseys,footballs and other sporting kits to the institute.
According to him, the group intends to offer more support to the institute to facilitate its development.
Items
The notepads would be used by Level 300 and Diploma One students during their compulsory internship period.
Appreciation
The Rector of the institute, Dr Wilberforce Sefakor Dzisah, who received the items, thanked the former students for their kind gesture and promised to put the items to good use.
He called on other year groups to contribute their quota to the development of GIJ.
Homecoming
As part of the homecoming celebrations, the group is organising a soiree at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 29 this month where other old students would meet to interact, dine and discuss the way forward for their alma mater.

They would also advocate the formation of a vibrant national alumni association comprising all year groups of the institute.
Mr Ebo Afful, Vice Rector; Perry Ofosu, Registrar; Zakaria Tanko Musah, Head of Department, Faculty of Journalism; the Alumni Representative on the GIJ Council and the President of the SRC of GIJ, Romeo Adzah, were among dignitaries who graced the brief but colourful ceremony.
