The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and Commonwealth Sport Ghana (CSG) have entered into a strategic partnership with GCB Bank to strengthen athlete development, support grassroots sports and promote the Olympic and Commonwealth movements across the country.
The agreement comes as Team Ghana continues its campaign at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, while laying the foundation for preparations towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
As part of the partnership, GCB Chief Marketing, Communications, and Customer Experience Officer, Cynthia Ofori Dwumfuo and Kwadwo Asamoah, Head of Marketing, led the presentation of a cheque for one million Ghana Cedis (Gh¢1m) to GOC and CSG President Richard Akpokavie at Team Ghana’s hotel in Glasgow on Tuesday
Per the agreement, GCB Bank will support key GOC/CSG initiatives, including athlete preparation, capacity building for sports administrators, grassroots sports development and promotional activities aimed at expanding participation and raising the profile of Olympic and Commonwealth sports nationwide.
GOC/CSG chief Akpokavie described the partnership as a timely boost to Ghana’s sporting ambitions.
“This partnership comes at a critical time as Team Ghana participates in the 2026 Commonwealth Games and lays a strong foundation for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games,” he said.
“GCB Bank’s support demonstrates confidence in our vision and will contribute meaningfully to athlete preparation, the development of our sports structures and the promotion of the values of excellence, friendship and respect that define the Olympic Movement,” he said.
