The 30-year-old was missing during the team's last gathering in June, when they secured consecutive wins over Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Expressing his enthusiasm upon his return, Williams responded to a post by the Ghana Football Association on X, saying, "Happy to be back."

Williams enjoyed a successful past season, helping Athletic Bilbao, alongside his brother Nico Williams, clinch the Spanish FA Cup, Copa del Rey.

Despite his impressive form, he has yet to score in the current season after four matches.

Having represented the Black Stars in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the 2023 AFCON in Côte d'Ivoire, Williams is set to play a crucial role as Ghana faces Angola on Thursday, September 5, at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The team will then take on Niger on Monday, September 9, in Morocco, a neutral venue chosen by CAF due to Niger's inability to meet home ground requirements.
