Hearts extend dominance over Berekum Chelsea
Accra Hearts of Oak continued their dominance over Berekum Chelsea with a comfortable 2-0 victory in their Ghana Premier League encounter at the Golden City Park at Berekum yesterday.
Second-half goals from Hamza Issa and Mawuli Wayo sealed the win for the Phobians, who have now scored four goals in six matches without conceding.
Issa broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute after a spell of sustained pressure, before Wayo put the game beyond reach with a well-taken strike deep into additional time.
Chelsea’s head coach, Samuel Boadu, had hoped to use this fixture to end their winless run against Hearts since 2022, but once again, Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani emerged tactically superior.
The result lifted Hearts to second on the league log, while Berekum Chelsea slipped into the bottom three after another disappointing outing.
Meanwhile, at the Tuba Astro Turf, Dreams FC finally recorded their first win of the season with a 2-0 triumph over Nations FC. Ernest Appiah opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Suraj Seidu doubled the advantage in the 54th minute to ease the pressure on the 'Still Believe' lads.
Medeama SC and Samartex FC shared the spoils in a thrilling 1-1 draw at the T&A Stadium.
Samartex’s Dramani Awuah stunned the home fans with a moment of brilliance, spotting the Medeama goalkeeper off his line and scoring from the centre circle to hand the visitors a surprise lead.
However, Medeama’s relentless pressure paid off late in the game when Kingsley Braye pounced on a rebound in the 89th minute to slot home from close range and rescue a point for the defending champions.
