Hearts to reverse compensation decision for Duncan
Accra Hearts of Oak are confident of success in their appeal against the decision by the Status Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to award former trainer, David Duncan, GHc86,500 in damages for unlawful dismissal.
According to Muheeb Saeed, the public relations officer of Hearts, the club filed an appeal last week Monday and was awaiting a response from the Committee for the date for the hearing.
“As management, we disagreed with the Status Committee’s decision to rule against us because some of our evidence; chiefly a written submission which contained the facts of the case from our perspective was not considered. We feel that, given the weight of our defence we should have won, hence the appeal,” Muheeb argued.
He further contended that Duncan’s dismissal and the subsequent cases against the club would not distract the playing body as they geared up for the resumption of the league on February 9.
“These hearings are necessary but they won’t distract us from our main focus. We have lawyers taking care of this case and the rest of the club, especially the playing body are focused on their core duty of winning football matches”, he added.
Muheeb also reiterated that, no matter the outcome of the hearing, the club would never quit the Ghana Premier League, as being suggested.
