Charity Stars aim for premiership
The Chief Executive Officer of ambitious Division Two side, Bubuashie Charity Stars, Samuel Owusu Amoah, has predicted a swift rise to the Premier League for his young team.
At the halfway stage of the current season Charity Stars who have Francis Owusu as their head-coach and EK Afranie as their technical director, remain unbeaten in Zone five and sit atop the standings, an enviable feat for a team that joined the Division two League only two years ago.
But, Samuel Owusu Amoah says they are not getting carried away because, they ended their first Division Two campaign unbeaten only to get defeated by Real Atletico in their quest for premiership football.
“Last year, we were disappointed when we came so close only to lose to Atletico, but this year would be different, we would make the people of Bubuashie proud. I see this team in the Premier League in the next three years because, currently I think we are at that standard.
“We played Liberty Professionals in the round of 64 of the FA Cup and we only lost through the lottery of penalty shoot-out, this makes me very confident that at the end of this year we would be in Division One and the next season the Premier League”.
He added that, the former colts team produced the likes of Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder star, Obed Ansah and former Ashgold defender, Johnathan Quartey but have moved on since their humble beginnings as a production line.
“At first this project was financed by the Gentiles Revival Ministries, so we catered for talented young people in Bubuashie by giving them an opportunity to play football, but even though we havn’t abandoned our Christian values, we are running the team more professionally and in line with that we are seeking other avenues of funding asides the church.”
