Hearts will snap up targeted players
The 2015 National Goalball competition, reserved for the visually impaired, came to a thrilling climax last Sunday at the Sekondi College in Takoradi with Volta Region emerging the overall champions.
The three-day event, saw competitors from all the 10 regions in Ghana competing for honours.
Volta Region that produced players who looked more composed and disciplined throughout the tournament emerged national champions` after finishing first and third in the male and female categories respectively.
The male team, which was led by Coach Saviour Agbabga showed class by winning all their matches in the male category.
It was in the grand finale that they exhibited an excellent performance by coming from behind to defeat Upper East Region 5-3 to win the ultimate .
The female team, on the other hand, could not perform as creditably as their males but managed to win the bronze in the round-robin .
The Central Region male team settled for the bronze medal after defeating their counterparts from the Northern Region in the third-place match.
The Greater Accra male team, considered as favourites, were given a shock of their lives when they lost 1-7 to Upper East Region in the quarter-final game, but their female team lived up to their billing by grabbing the silver after going down 7-9 to Brong Ahafo Region in the grand finale.
