I’Il make GHALCA more dynamic — Oduro Sarfo
Football administrator Nana Oduro Sarfo says he has been motivated to run for the chairmanship of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) because he is determined to spearhead its turnaround and provide it with visionary leadership.

Mr Sarfo is contesting the position of GHALCA chairman, alongside the incumbent head, Alhaji Ali Raji; Kudjoe Fianoo, a former Administrative Manager of the association and CEO of AshantiGold, and Kofi Poku, an executive member of GHALCA.
In a statement of intent and his vision for GHALCA, a copy of which was sent to the Graphic Sports, the Berekum Chelsea official lamented how the clubs’ umbrella body had lost its focus, suffered an image crisis over time and had become ineffective in championing the interest of its members.
“GHALCA has now lost the purpose why it was formed. Now GHALCA cannot boast a proper functioning office, no transport, it is financially bankrupt, and the image of GHALCA has gone down drastically due to the inefficient way it has been managed for some time now,” stated Mr Sarfo as he rallied for support for his bid, as well as the election of an efficient team “to bring back the good image of our once cherished association.”
According to the football administrator, who previously worked with King Faisal and Aduana Stars, he had a comprehensive plan and programme to restore the original vision of GHALCA and was confident his vision and track record in the association would win him the nod.
He added that developing a parcel of land acquired by GHALCA many years ago into a sports complex was at the heart of his plan for the association.
“I’m already in talks with investors in the UK and they are excited about the project. In the first 100 days of my chairmanship, I’ll ensure GHALCA secures the land [located near Kasoa in the Central Region] and then I’ll unveil the drawings and prototype of the stadium,” he told this paper yesterday on telephone.
Such a sports complex, he envisioned, would have facilities to be patronised by football clubs and national teams, both local and foreign, at a fee to generate more funds which would put GHALCA in a position to provide financial assistance to member clubs.

As part of his vision to build a new image for GHALCA, the Chelsea official said under his chairmanship the association would be repositioned to discard its image as a radical group and that of a rival body to the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
