Kotoko draw Aduana FC in MTN FA Cup Round of 16
Defending MTN FA Cup champions, Asante Kotoko, have been drawn against Premier League heavyweights, Aduana FC, in a mouthwatering Round of 16 encounter.
Kotoko will be chasing a record-extending 11th FA Cup title, while the tie presents Aduana with a golden opportunity to push for their first-ever FA Cup triumph.
The Round of 16 fixtures, scheduled for February 6 and 9, promise thrilling action as the remaining teams battle for a place in the quarterfinals and a step closer to the coveted trophy.
Ghana Premier League leaders, Medeama SC, have also been handed a tough all-Premiership fixture against FC Samartex 1996. Samartex, winners of the 2022/23 Premier League title, will be aiming to eliminate two-time FA Cup winners Medeama, champions in 2013 and 2015, as they seek to add the FA Cup to their honours.
Another eye-catching fixture will see 2023 FA Cup winners, Dreams FC, take on lower-tier side Inter Allies, runners-up in 2014. Dreams FC have endured a difficult start to their Premier League campaign this season, and with the league title seemingly out of reach, the FA Cup remains their best chance for silverware.
They are expected to go all out to halt Inter Allies’ progress.
True Life FC, the only Division Two side left in the competition, face a daunting task against Kpando Heart of Lions. Despite being clear underdogs, True Life will draw inspiration from past fairy-tale runs, including Nania FC’s 2011 triumph and Bofoakwa Tano’s runner-up finish in 2024, as they hope to spring a surprise.
Elsewhere, Attram De Visser will square off against Eleven Wonders, while Techiman Liberty Youth take on Real Tamale United.
In another all-Premier League encounter, Nations FC will battle Swedru All Blacks, and Berekum Chelsea will clash with Tamale City in what promises to be another exciting contest.
