Kotoko gears up for FA Disciplinary Committee ruling

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and their legal team yesterday set themselves in motion to appeal against the ruling by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to declare them losers of their league game against Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium in August 2.

The decision which followed a protest filed by the Phobians against their arch rivals for fielding an unqualified player, Obed Owusu, has seen the Porcupine Warriors dropped to the relegation zone.

Kotoko said Wednesday that they were highly disappointed by the ruling by Godfred Yeboah Dame who sat on the case.

Kweku Ahenkorah, Media Relations and Communications Manager of Kotoko, said they have identified several loopholes in the ruling.

“We’ll take our six points back and whatever it takes we will do to get our way” Ahinkrah told Daily Graphic in an interview Wednesday.

Hearts protest was against Obed Owusu, who was deemed ineligible to play the said match because he had received three yellow cards in previews games.

In their defense, Kotoko argued that the player served the suspension when he features in their Elite Cup game against Dunkwa United.

But the committee having weighed both arguments concluded that the player was unqualified to played against Hearts.
