The win sets the stage for a tantalising clash between Kotoko and Hearts in Kumasi on Sunday, with the two rivals being separated by two points (Kotoko, 35, Hearts, 33) on the log.

Defenders Evans Quao and Ahmed Adams delivered two beautiful headers in the 13th and 38th minutes, respectively, from well-rehearsed corner kicks by Emmanuel Gyamfi to put the fans in an ecstatic mood.

After a series of near misses, Gyamfi, the architect of the two goals, had the best chance to increase the tally for Kotoko but lifted the ball over the upright after outpacing his markers in about 20-metre dash.

Medeama, once a strong force in the Ghana Premier League, were reduced to chasing their shadows for most part of the game.

Saddick Adams made it three from a class act free-kick outside the penalty area as former Kotoko goalkeeper, Ofori Antwi, who kept the posts for the visitors, pushed the ball into his net in the 58th minute.

Just when Medeama started to string their passes together to mount a momentary pressure, Bernard Ofori blew away a golden opportunity in the 70th minute when he missed the upright narrowly after beating everyone.

Speedstar Gyamfi failed to put his name on the scoresheet when after racing with the ball from the centre line hit off target.

Bismark Oppong, however, pulled one back for Medeama on the stroke of full time.
