Local Organizing Committee for 2024 Africa Basketball Festival announced
The much-anticipated 2024 Africa Basketball Festival has moved a step closer to realization with the announcement of the official Local Organizing Committee (LOC).
Comprising experts from sports management, event planning, and media, the LOC will oversee the successful delivery of the festival, which has become a unique celebration of basketball, music, and fashion.
The 2024 Africa Basketball Festival, now in its fourth edition, will feature ten participating countries from across Africa and beyond.
The event is scheduled to take place at the University of Ghana from October 24-27, 2024. The LOC will be responsible for the festival’s logistics, planning, and execution, ensuring a memorable experience for attendees.
The committee members include:
- Dr. Austin Luguterah, Director of Sports & Wellness at the University of Ghana (Chairman),
- Iddrisu Gamel Ayambire, FIBA Technical Delegate & Vice President of the Ghana Basketball Association (Head, Technical),
- Maurice Quansah, Editor of Graphic Sports (Head, Media & Communication),
- Eugene Osafo-Nkansah, President of the New Media Association of Ghana (Deputy Head, Media & Communication),
- Eric Agyapong Ankamah, Senior Sports Coach, University of Ghana (Head, Transport & Accommodation),
- Dr. Richard Sylvester Dey, Head of Internal Medicine at the University of Ghana Hospital (Head, Medical),
- John Owusu-Boakye, Project Coordinator at RITE Sports (Head, Branding & Logistics),
- Peter Asare, Head of Creative at RITE Sports (Content Production Team),
- Augustine Amissare, Senior Assistant Registrar at the University of Ghana (Head, Venues, Security & Protocol),
- George Lomotey, Director of Marketing at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (Head, TV Production & Official TV Broadcaster).
As excitement builds for the 2024 festival, the LOC will play a critical role in ensuring its success. The event is expected to attract top basketball talent from across the continent, fashion brands, and performances by leading musical artists.
