Martha Bissah’s coach quits ; As Micky Osei Berko takes over the athlete
Isaac Nii Odartey Lamptey, coach of Martha Bissah, Ghana’s first Youth Olympic gold medalist, has finally parted ways with the young athlete.
He told the Graphic Sports that ever since Martha won gold at the Youth Olympics, she had diserted him as she has not communicated with him for the past two months.

“I have for the past two months been making frantic efforts just to get in touch with Martha but to no avail.
“But just last Saturday, I gathered she was at the El Wak Sports Stadium and now training under one coach Amuzu who happened to be my coach as well”, he lamented.
The young female athlete and her coach have for sometime now been in the news following Martha’s sudden decision to switch camp to Kasoa where she is said to be living with Ghanaian actor, Micky Osei Berko, who is now her manager after her historic feat at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China.
The Kumasi-based Police Officer claims Martha, who has been under his tutelage for sometime now, has moved out of his Pokuase residence and relocated to Kasoa.
Mickey Osei Berko when contacted emphasised that there was no bad blood between him and Coach Odartey Lamptey and that the seeming media war was distracting the athlete.
He said he decided to accommodate Martha at Kasoa because where she was at Pokuase was not that good and seemed to be derailing her training schedules since Coach Lamptey was permanently in Kumasi.

“I got to know Coach Amuzu through Martha and so I suggested he supervises the training of Martha until Coach Odartey Lamptey, who is still her substantive coach, returned from Kumasi,” Mr Osei Berko stated, saying Coach Amuzu is not Martha’s substantive coach.
He described the young athlete as a world class athlete’ who needed help and said, “That is why I came in to help her”
The new turn of events, according to Coach Lamptey, began when they returned from the Youth Olympics last year and were hosted by Mr Osei Berko on his show at the Tesano-based Adinkra FM after which the famous actor and radio presenter expressed his interest to manage the athlete.
