Mauritius clinch bronze in Team Relay at 2025 Africa AirBadminton Championships
Team Mauritius secured a bronze medal in the Team Relay event at the recently concluded 2025 Africa AirBadminton Championships, held at Laboma Beach in Accra, Ghana.
After topping Group C which included strong contenders such as Ghana, Egypt, and Togo, Mauritius looked poised for a place in the final.
However, their campaign was cut short in the semi-finals following a hard-fought contest against Egypt, who edged them out of title contention.
Determined to finish on the podium, Mauritius rebounded in the third-place playoff with a 60–52 victory over Benin to claim the bronze medal. Egypt won gold while Nigeria claimed silver.
The result is a notable achievement for the team, especially after narrowly missing qualification for the inaugural Badminton World Federation (BWF) AirBadminton World Cup, scheduled to take place in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, from December 11–14, 2025.
