The new leadership, comprising seasoned professionals, will be headed by Mr. Johnson Kwaku Gameli Kportüfe, who takes on the role of president.

The inauguration marks a significant step for the association, which has undergone notable changes in recent times. Originally known as the Federation of Roller Sports, the organization was renamed the Ghana Skaters Association during an annual general meeting in January 2023. This change was part of a broader restructuring effort that included the establishment of an interim management committee tasked with amending the constitution and organizing activities to promote the sport.

The election of the new executive committee was conducted online and overseen by an electoral committee chaired by Mr. Kwadjo Baah Agyemang, with Lawyer Devine Kweku Asigbetsey serving as a member and Madam Christine Ashley as the secretary. The newly elected officials took their oath of office, administered by Lawyer Asigbetsey, in a ceremony that underscored their commitment to advancing the sport of skating in Ghana.

The executive team includes Mr. Godfrey W. Amarteifio as the 1st Vice President, Mr. Reginald George Quartey as the Zone 1 Vice President, Mr. Andrew Bampoe-Parry as the Zone 2 Vice President, Mr. Emmanuel Lartey as the Zone 3 Vice President, and Mr. Eric Fordjour as the Zone 4 Vice President. Mr. Prosper Ashiquaye Doku has been appointed as the Secretary-General, with Mr. Nana Yaw Quansah serving as Deputy Secretary-General. The financial affairs of the association will be managed by Treasurer Mr. George Bamfo, while Mr. Solomon Anim-Owusu will represent athletes. Ms. Josephine Darkwah has been named the Women’s Commissioner.

In his address, Lawyer Asigbetsey urged the new leadership to work diligently to develop the sport, emphasizing the importance of fostering growth and engaging with various stakeholders to enhance the association's activities.

Mr. Prosper Ashiquaye Doku, the newly appointed Secretary-General, expressed the association's openness to partnering with corporate entities in Ghana to further develop skating as a sport. He emphasized the need for collaboration to bring more resources and opportunities to the community.

President Mr. Johnson Kwaku Gameli Kportüfe echoed this sentiment, stating that the new leadership is united in its goal to promote and develop skating across the country. He pledged that the association would roll out numerous activities in the coming weeks to engage enthusiasts and grow the sport's popularity.

The Ghana Skaters Association’s new executive committee is set to embark on its four-year term with a clear vision and a strong mandate to elevate the sport of skating in Ghana.
