Latif Blessing — Leads Liberty attack against Kotoko

Osei to lead Kotoko’s revival : Hearts not safe at Techiman

Coach David Duncan’s tribulations in the midst of the uncertainties about his job at Kumasi Asante Kotoko still linger and could be worse in the coming days if his assistant, Michael Osei, who has been handed temporary responsibility as caretaker coach, succeeds in his rescue mission on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors face Liberty Professionals at the Baba Yara Stadium in a fixture that the Oseikrom Boys have always handled with ease, yet victory could finally sound the death knell on Duncan’s troubled stint with Kotoko.

The former Accra Hearts of Oak coach was asked to step aside when the troubled Premier League campaign of the Oseikrom Boys dropped them to an ignoble bottom of the Premier League log after six matches for the first time in recent times.

Coming off a sensational 5-1 victory over defending champions Ashgold, Liberty Professionals with a cutting edge of diminutive, striker Latif Blessing, Tuffour Frimpong and Tamimu Muntari appear a potential danger to the ambitions of the Porcupine Warriors, who will rely on history and the determination of striker Kwame Boateng and Bennnet Ofori to secure only their second victory in the competition.

Trouble stares Accra Hearts of Oak at Techiman where their opponents, Techiman Stars remain convincingly invincible and unshaken. The last time the Phobians played at Techiman was 31-years ago when they lost 2-0 to defunct Techiman Holy Stars.

Hearts, who lost their unbeaten run with last Sunday’s 3-1 thumping by Wa All Stars in Accra, face a side who have won all three home matches this season and picked a point away last Sunday after holding New Edubiase United to a 2-2 draw.

In the rest of the fixtures, Ashgold host Dreams FC in Obuasi, WAFA welcome New Edubiase United to Sogakope, Aduana Stars storm the Golden City Park to play Berekum Chelsea in a local derby, while league leaders All Stars welcome Ebusua Dwarfs to the Wa Park.
