Quartey close to IBF title shot
Ghanaian boxer, Emmanuel Quartey, has been gifted with an opportunity to get a shot at the IBF super-bantamweight title when he faces Welsh Robbie Turley for the Commonwealth super-bantamweight final eliminator at the Ashton Gate Stadium at Bristol in the United Kingdom on October 6.
Quartey, alias Akufo-Addo, is fighting under the promotion of Chris Sanigar of Sanigar Events and is expected to depart from Accra on October 2, together with his trainer Nana Yaw Brifo Addae, cutman Darlington Kojo Yeboah, and manager Danjuma Maama.

The 27-year-old former West African super-bantamweight champion has fought 23 times professionally including two lossess, no draws and has won his last seven bouts.
This bout has been Quartey’s long awaited shot towards the IBF world title, but suffered a set back after the initial fighter chickened out at the last minute a year ago.
Quartey stands the chance of fighting IBF super-bantamweight champion Lee Selby should he defeat the Welshman at the United Kingdom.
He told the Graphic Sports in an interview that he was looking forward to the fight and a 100 per cent fitness.
“I have waited for this opportunity for so long and this is my time to face my destiny,” he told the Graphic Sports in an interview in Accra yesterday.
He called on Ghanaians to pray for him as he sought to break the jinx by winning a world title for the country.
