Satellites coach sure of big win against Benin

Black Satellites coach, Jimmy Cobblah, has promised a convincing win for his team when they play host to Benin at the Cape Coast Stadium tomorrow in the first leg of their Africa Youth Championship qualifier.

Coach Cobblah believes winning with a wider margin at home will make their trip to Benin an academic exercise and ensure they qualify for the continental campaign which is slated for February 24 to March 10 in Niger, next year.

The Satellites have been in residential camping at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre at Prampram before moving to Cape Coast to continue preparing for their final qualifier and their coach noted that his charges were in good spirits ahead of the game.

He admitted to the Daily Graphic in an interview yesterday thatmost of his players were match-rusty at the beginning of camping due to the suspension of organised football activities in the country but have picked up in form after several intensive training sessions.

"Preparations have been good for now and I can assure you that we are ready for a convincing win on Saturday in order to make the second leg a mere formality.

"It was not too good when we started concerning the players because they were a bit rusty as there was no football in the country," coach Cobinnah said.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) was compelled to reschedule Satellites match with Benin to August 4 from July 13, following an intervention by the Dr Kofi Amoah-led liaison team coordinating activities of the national team, following the suspension of organised football in the country and an injunction by the government on activities of the Ghana Football Association and its officials in the aftermath of an expose by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, on widespread corruption in Ghana football.
