Strand stranded at Medeama? Says Kotoko is his dream club

Embattled Medeama coach Tom Strand could be looking at a future away from the Tarkwa-based club as recent events suggest a frosty relationship with the club’s management, with the Swede making no secret his desire to handle traditional giants, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, in future.

Strand, who guided Medeama to MTN FA Cup and GFA Super Cup glory, has been unhappy at the club in recent times after his former deputy, Augustine Evans Adotey, was appointed his boss as the new technical director of the club. His failure to train with the team on Monday fuelled speculation he was on his way out after media reports suggested he had held secret talks with the management of Kotoko over a possible move to replace their coach David Duncan, following an unimpressive start in the Premier League.

In spite of a denial by Kotoko concerning any such secret talks with the Medeama coach, Strand welcomed a future move to Kotoko, describing it as “a good move for both parties”.

In an interview with ghanafans.com, he said the Kotoko job was a dream despite insisting he had held no meeting with the Kotoko hierarchy as was reported in the media.

“I don’t know as of now because nobody from Kotoko has contacted me,” Strand, who has a year on his contract with Medeama, told ghanafans.com.

“But it would be a good thing for Kotoko and me but as of now nothing has been done.”
