VIDEO: Kudus explains why he celebrated with an elephant stool after scoring against Brighton
Mohammed Kudus, the Ghanaian star playing for West Ham United, brought a piece of his homeland to the pitch in a unique celebration following his equalizing header against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
The 23-year-old scored his third goal of the season in the Premier League match, which ended in a thrilling draw.

After netting the goal, Kudus did not follow his usual routine of sitting on the perimeter boards or the seats provided for ball assistants.
Instead, he chose a more symbolic gesture by selecting a wooden seat with a carved elephant from behind the goal and sharing the moment with teammate Crysencio Summerville.
“It's a special stool, a stool from Ghana,” Kudus explained after the game in an interview with the EPL website. “With my celebration, I see a lot of competitors and people doing it so I thought, ‘Why not do something different?’”
This celebration was not just about standing out; it was a nod to his cultural heritage. “It’s my roots," he said. "Where I come from, the chiefs and the kings, they sit on stools where they are from. So I thought it would be nice to share a little bit of life where I am from.”
Kudus, who has been making waves in the Premier League since his move to West Ham, continues to blend his football prowess with his cultural identity, offering fans a glimpse into Ghanaian traditions through one of the world's most watched sports.
His actions on the pitch are not only raising the profile of Ghanaian football but also showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of the nation.
