Vision FC’s coach defends Akuka
Vision FC coach, Nana Kweku Agyemang, has defended his striker, Issah Akuka Issifu, following criticism over his lack of goals this season in the Ghana Premier League.
Akuka, who joined Vision FC from Accra Hearts of Oak and previously had a loan spell at Real Tamale United, has failed to score in nine games, a performance that has fueled frustration among fans.

The situation intensified after Vision FC’s goalless draw against Aduana Stars last Sunday.
In his post-match comments at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema, Coach Agyemang called Akuka a “work in progress” and expressed confidence that the striker’s fortunes would change once he finds his first goal of the season.
He emphasised Akuka’s broader role on the field, pointing out the striker’s contributions to goal creation even when he isn’t scoring himself.
“Akuka is very experienced,” Agyemang stated. “As much as he is not finding his feet now, out of nothing, he can create opportunities. In our game against Accra Lions, he created a goal out of nothing and similarly, against Legon Cities, he created another chance. He’s not just there to score, but also to set up others”, the coach said.
Despite the criticism, Coach Agyemang is optimistic Akuka will improve, especially as he builds partnerships with teammates such as Frank Abora Duku and Edmond Asante.
He believes these connections could provide the atmosphere for Akuka to break his scoring drought soon.

Coach Agyemang also acknowledged the fans’ frustration with the team’s struggles in front of goal, particularly during home games, where Vision FC has only one win in five matches this season.
He promised to work on the team’s scoring efficiency and urged fans to remain patient.
“I understand the fans’ frustration because they’re disappointed with the lack of home victories. They have every right to be upset,” he said. “We share that sentiment and we’re committed to correcting these issues during training to make the fans happy.”
