Volta Star Spikers win Volleyball League

The Volta Star Spikers volleyball team emerged champions in the maiden edition of the Volta Regional Volleyball League held at the Nfojoh Park in Ho last Tuesday.

The three-team tournament, saw Volta Star securing nine points  after defeating Battor Spikers and  Aflao All Spikers,  who amassed  six and three points respectively.

In an all play all format, the female team of Volta Stars  also beat Aflao Spikers 2-0 to win the female trophy at stake .

For their effort, the participating teams received a certificate of participation, jerseys and volleyballs.

The Volta Star Spikers male side grabbed three individual awards; Best Spiker, went to Emmanuel Yakubu while Best Libero, was awarded to Adonkor Elikplim. 

Kennedy Amegatse from Volta Star  took away the Best Player award, while Edmund Agbanu of Battor All Star Spikers won the Best Setter award.

In his remarks, the President of the Ghana Volleyball Association, Paul Atchoe, commended organisers of the tournament for their initiatives .

“I am highly impressed with your performance. I never thought we could come this far. There are several competitions which will come our way and  I want to use this medium to congratulate the organisers on a good work done”, he noted

He also commended the players for their skills and discipline on the field and promised to support them in diverse ways.
