Two goals from Daniel Lomotey against Elmina Sharks at the Nduom Stadium yesterday, helped WAFA to solidify their lead on the Ghana Premier League (GPL) table.

The 2-1 victory against Sharks further enhanced WAFA’s away credentials this season,  earning  their third successive away wins having beaten Wa All Stars and Bechem United in their homes earlier.

The victory took  WAFA to 23 points, four adrift of their nearest challengers, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, and five more than third-placed Aduana Stars who have two games in hand.

Until yesterday’s loss, Sharks had been unbeaten in their last four matches at Elmina but the Sogakope-based side took a two-goal lead at half time as Lomotey led the romp and took his scoring record of four goals in three games.

Late into the match, Samuel Arthur pulled a goal back for Sharks but it was too late to turn the match around as the Academy lads, who were winless away last season, recorded their second successive victory on the road. It was also their third away win and fourth straight victory this season.

At Obuasi last Saturday, Accra Hearts of Oak deepened the woes of Ashantigold with a 1-0 win which kept the Phobians five points off league leaders WAFA.
