Dr. Adam reported substantial progress in enhancing sports infrastructure and nurturing talent, ensuring that Ghanaian athletes are well-supported to excel.

One of the major highlights was Ghana's successful hosting of the 13th African Games from March 4 to 23, 2024, in Accra. The games were held at the newly constructed multi-purpose sports facility in Borteyman and the newly commissioned University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Ghana achieved its best performance at an international multi-sport event, securing sixth place on the medals table with a total of 69 medals: 19 gold, 29 silver, and 21 bronze.

"This remarkable performance at the 13th African Games is a testament to our commitment to sports development and the dedication of our athletes," Dr. Adam stated. "The new facilities at Borteyman and the University of Ghana have provided a world-class environment for our athletes to shine."

In addition to the African Games, Ghana's national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, also participated in the 2024 African Amputee Football Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt and emerged as champions, securing a spot at the 2026 Amputee World Cup Tournament.

"The triumph of the Black Challenge at the African Amputee Football Cup of Nations is a proud moment for Ghana," Dr. Adam said. "Their success underscores the resilience and talent of our athletes, and we are committed to supporting them as they prepare for the 2026 Amputee World Cup."

He said these achievements reflect the government's ongoing efforts to bolster sports in Ghana, not only by providing infrastructure but also by fostering an environment where athletes can thrive on the international stage.
