Why GTV is not showing Ghana -Sudan AFCON match

The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has explained that its inability to broadcast the AFCON qualifier between Ghana and Sudan was due to New World TV, the Free-to-Air (FTA) rights holder in Sub-Saharan Africa, failing to provide the necessary feed to all FTA broadcasters across the continent.

In a statement dated Thursday, October 10, 2024, GBC clarified that it had fully paid for the broadcasting rights.

It added, "It is our understanding that New World TV and CAF have unresolved issues leading to our current situation."

The national broadcaster has apologised to its viewers for the inconvenience caused by the inability to air the match.
