Entrepreneurship: Acreaty Ghana to train wives of Police officers

Acreaty Ghana, a human resource firm in Accra has signed a three-year partnership agreement with the Police Wives Association to train its members in entrepreneurship.

Dubbed the POLWA Entrepreneurship Project, the project seeks to empower the over 12,000 members of POLWA with the requisite skills that will enable them to effectively establish and manage their own businesses effectively.

The wife of the Inspector General of Police and President of POLWA, Mrs Tina Asante-Apeatu signed the agreement on behalf of the Association while Managing Partner of Acreaty Ghana, Mrs Elsie Appau-Klu signed on behalf of Acreaty Ghana.

Elaborating on the project, the Managing Partner of Acreaty Ghana, Mrs Elsie Appau-Klu said participants will be schooled on topics such as advantages of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship models, conceiving ideas for business inception, nurturing the business after you have started and financial management.

Other topics to be treated include human capital management and marketing, overcoming common problems faced by women entrepreneurs and funding for business.

The skills development programmes, Mrs Appau–Klu said will be organised in all the nine zones of POLWA in Accra and nine other regions.

“Following its completion, selected participants will be assisted to secure funding for their business as they go through the second phase of the programme, the Business Incubator programme to further mentor them and guide them through the critical early stages of their business”, she stated.

On her part, Mrs Asante-Apeatu commended Acreaty Ghana for coming out with such a project which she stated would be of immense benefit to members of the association.

She added that the essence of such a project to empower spouses of Police Officers would not only benefit them as women but also ensure the collective security of the entire nation.

She said, “This is because with their homes and families well secured, Officers would be able to deliver the mission of ensuring security more effectively".

She called on interested individuals and corporate organisations to support the project. The first training session of the POLWA Entrepreneurship Project is expected to commence in September 2018.
