BoG working with SEC to finalise framework on how to regulate crypto currency in Ghana

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) in partnership with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other stakeholders is finalising a framework on how to regulate crypto currency and digital assets in Ghana.

When completed, the framework is expected to bring clarity, mitigate risk, and support responsible innovation in line with global standards for digital assets regulations.

"Crypto currency is an emerging area that requires our attention. I want to encourage all banks and financial institutions to begin preparing now because we have no choice but to embrace," the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama said at a meeting with heads of banks on Tuesday [June 3, 2025].
