Ghana’s Zaina Adamu named among world’s Top 40 Under 40 Africans
Zaina Adamu has been named among the 2026 Global Top 40 Under 40 Most Influential People of African Descent, in recognition of her work in youth empowerment and advocacy.
The list is compiled by Most Influential People of African Descent, a global initiative aligned with the United Nations’ International Decade for People of African Descent, which highlights individuals making significant contributions across sectors.
Adamu, founder of Ghana Girl Rising, is being recognised for her efforts to expand opportunities for young women through education, mentorship and advocacy. Her work has focused on equipping girls in Ghana with access to both local and international educational pathways.
In a statement, MIPAD founder and chief executive Jonathan Olufowobi said the 2026 honourees represent a new generation of leaders driving change within their respective fields while contributing to wider societal progress.
He noted that the selected individuals reflect the growing global influence of people of African descent across industries, adding that their work continues to shape policy, communities and innovation.
Adamu’s recognition places her among emerging leaders whose work spans education, governance, business and social impact, as part of efforts to amplify African voices on the global stage.
Honourees are expected to be formally recognised during MIPAD’s Recognition Week in September in New York, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
The announcement adds to a growing list of international accolades for young African leaders, with organisers describing the initiative as a platform to celebrate excellence and inspire future generations.
