Graphic wins Legacy Brand, Media Organisation of the Year awards

The Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) last Friday affirmed its position in the Media Organisation category of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Marketing Performance Awards, winning two awards, including the CIMG’s prized 30th anniversary Legacy Brand Award.

The night when stakeholders in business gathered to be celebrated also saw the GCGL reclaim the Media Organisation of the Year award.

The Managing Director of the GCGL, Mr Ato Afful, was joined by the Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Kobby Asmah; the Director in charge of Marketing, Mr Franklin Sowah; the Director in charge of Technical Services, Mr Charles Amoako, and a number of managers of the company to receive the awards.

This year’s CIMG Awards events, which was the 30th of the prestigious awards that celebrate excellence in marketing in Ghana, was on the theme: “Celebrating 30 years of promoting marketing excellence: Synergies for the future”.

Successive awards

It was the seventh time in the past seven years that the GCGL had been adjudged the Media Organisation of the Year by the CIMG, having won it during the 23rd (2012), 24th (2013), 25th (2014), 26th (2015), 27th (2016) and 28th (2017) editions.

The only time the group missed out was the 29th edition, which was won by the Multimedia Group.

No compromise

Speaking at the ceremony, the National President of the CIMG, Mr Kojo Mattah, explained that as part of measures to remove human interference in the awards, the CIMG had invested in a hi-tech survey software which allowed for a very independent assessment of all entries.

He observed that the awards had become a reference point for integrity in corporate performance awards and the CIMG would do everything to protect it.

“We cannot compromise on the quality of the awards because that is the only ingredient that separates the CIMG Marketing Performance Awards from all other awards in the country,” he said.
