A platform designed to enable individuals, businesses and organisations to transact business online using credit cards has been launched by the GTBank.

The online hub is accessible by all individuals and organisations with visa cards, MasterCard, MTN mobile money or GH-link from any bank in Ghana.
The platform
Launching the product in Accra on Thursday, the Managing Director (MD) GTBank, Mr Lekan Sanusi, said the 21st century customer needed a new module of banking system which allowed the customers to transact business from the convenience of their destinations using funds from their accounts or mobile wallets.
“Life in the 21st century has grown paradoxically complicated to an extent that the customers must be at different places at the same time in order to fulfil, meet or complete necessary chores in the day” he said.
In response to the demand for service at a click of a button, the MD said the GTBank had over the years worked to provide several electronic channels that were convenient for only customers of GTBank.
Thus, as a bank which prides itself in innovative products and as a three times winner of the Technology Advanced Bank of the Year and the two times winner of the E-Banking Service of the Year awards, he said the bank decided to extend the services to non-customers, especially, in the area of online services, hence, the birth of the integrated, secure and convenient online hub which Mr Lekan described as the solution to revolutionised payments for everyone.
He said the platform was not restricted to customers of GTBank but other banks, as well as access to folks even in rural areas bearing in mind the advent of mobile money services.

The digital
In his remarks, the Head of Payment Systems at the Bank of Ghana, Mr Settor Kobla Amediku, lauded the initiative describing GTBank as ‘highly innovative’.
He added that the myghpay.com was the first of its kind that the BoG had approved since the launch of the electronic-money issuance regulations.
Amediku said the traditional banking was fading out with the upsurge in the use of mobile phones and penetration of the Internet, hence the need for banks to move digital to stay in business.
That, he said, was evident in the fact that 11.4million Ghanaians had bank accounts as of December 2016; however, 20 million had subscribed to mobile money account, while there were 1,341 bank branches but more than 1,700 mobile money agents across the country.
