Gunu lauds Republic Bank for impactful projects in VR
THE Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu has commended the Republic Bank for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the region, saying the bank is complimenting the government’s development efforts with great impact in the communities.
He said this at the inauguration of a GH¢200,000 water system built for the Taviefe Senior High School, in the Ho municipality on last Friday.
This comes a day after a similar facility the bank built for the Adidome Senior High School in the Central Tongu District was inaugurated.
Mr Gunu revealed the region needed at least 900 boreholes to meet the demand for water in schools, other institutions and the communities.
To address that issue, he said, it was decided every municipal and district assembly drilled at least 10 boreholes from its Common Fund in the short term.
By that rate, however, Mr Gunu explained, it would still take a very long time meet that objective.
“So, we need more hands on deck to clear that deficit in water supply to the people,” the regional minister said.
He, therefore, appealed to other corporate bodies, non-governmental organisations, and public-spirited individuals to emulate the good example of the Republic Bank in helping the government to provide basic amenities to the people.
He gave an assurance that the Volta Regional Coordinating Council would readily collaborate with the Republic Bank in other development projects as well, under its corporate social responsibility.
The Managing Director of the Republic Bank, Dr Benjamin Dzoboku re-affirmed the bank’s commitment to making positive impact in the lives of the people in the areas in which operated.
He mentioned climate, education, good health, sanitation and potable water in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 as priority areas of the bank’s corporate social responsibility.
“We are committed to projects that bring dignity to the communities we serve,” Dr Dzoboku added.
