Industrialisation and implementation key to our development – Experts

Speakers at the inaugural Ghana Mutual Prosperity Dialogues have called for a shared responsibility and an all-inclusive approach to move the country to an industrialized economy anchored by the private sector.

They also called for a focus on entrepreneurship and a new frontier for the public-private partnership to accelerate growth in the country.

Contributing to the dialogue, the deputy Minister for Finance Abena Osei Asare revealed that the government will re-structure public institutions and companies to be proactive while fashioning out concrete solutions to solve Ghana’s problems.

“The wealth of a nation is built on private sector and entrepreneurial spirit.Government will form partnerships with the private sector to make this realized,” he stated.

The Minister for Trade and Industry, K.T. Hammond on his part called for a regulatory framework to ensure the nation is self-sufficient in rice production to cut down on its import.

The Minister for Finance Mr Ken Ofori Atta pledged that he will work together with the relevant stakeholders to bring the nation out of the current economic quagmire that it currently finds itself in.

Adding his voice to the dialogue,the CEO of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Seth Twum Akwaboah tasked the government to implement decisions taken out various economic policies. According to him, that is the only way the country can move towards economic growth and prosperity.

He charged the state to get rid of the many taxes that have been imposed on industry players and companies saying such taxes are inimical to the growth of the country.

Participants at the dialogue called for more consultations and dialogue to protect businesses and companies from going under in this economic turbulence.
