John Mahama praises Isaac Adongo's economics credentials

THE Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President John Dramani Mahama, has heaped praises on the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Mr Isaac Adongo for his mastery of issues on the economy and finance.

Mr Mahama said the first-time MP and Member of Parliament's Finance Committee was one of the NDC's best legislators and brains on the economy.

While introducing Mr Adongo to his constituents in Sherigu as part of his tour of the Upper East Region, the NDC's Flag Bearer for the 2020 elections said the MP was one of the people that he and the party relied on when it came to issues on the economy.

"I want to introduce to you our Parliamentary Candidate," Mr Mahama said at the rally attended by party sympathisers and graced by traditional rulers.

"He (Mr Adongo) is one of the best MP’s in our party. Isaac Adongo is a master when it comes to finance and economics,” he said.

He thus advised the supporters to retain Mr Adongo in power to enable him to continue utilising his expertise to the benefit of the NDC and the country as a whole.

The party supporters at the event responded to Mr Mahama's priasses with cheers and shouts of "incoming Finance Minister."

A chartered accountant, Mr Adongo first shot to fame in April 2017 when he was the lead speaker of a lecture that responded to an earlier one by Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia on the economy.

Since then, he has majored on economic and finance issues, occasionally leading speaking sessions on the economy against the government and the New Patriotic Party.

He also has taken on the Bank of Ghana, the Securities and the Exchange Commission and the Ministry of Finance in different occasions over the financial sector clean up exercises and the general state of the economy.
